6 habits that make your hair colour last longer
Sun, hot water and the wrong shampoo fade colour fast. Small changes at home keep it bright for weeks longer.
Fresh colour looks its best in the first two weeks. These habits keep it looking that way until your next appointment.
1. Wait 48 hours before the first wash
The colour needs time to settle into the hair. Washing too soon rinses some of it away.
2. Use a sulphate-free shampoo
Sulphates strip colour along with oil. A gentle, colour-safe shampoo makes a visible difference.
3. Turn the water down
Hot water opens the hair cuticle and lets colour escape. Lukewarm is kinder, and a cool final rinse adds shine.
4. Protect it from the sun
UV fades colour, especially reds and blondes. Wear a hat or use a leave-in spray with UV filters.
5. Go easy on heat
Always use a heat protectant, and keep your straightener under 180°C.
6. Book a gloss between colours
A quick gloss refreshes the tone and shine in under an hour.
